The CMHS National GAINS Center invites your submission for the 2010 National GAINS Center Conference, presented by the National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare. We are now accepting proposals for presentations that promote the conference theme, Including Justice-Involved People with Mental Illness in Health Care Reform.

Consistent with the conference theme, we are prioritizing presentations focusing on innovative programs and practices for adults and youth which have empirical data supporting their effectiveness.

Papers: 15-minute papers will be grouped by topic – one presenter per paper (may list up to three additional authors for program book).

Panels: Group presentations that focus on one topic or program. Sessions will be 45, 75, or 90 minutes in length, with four panelists minimum. Consumer participation is strongly encouraged.

Posters: Highlight your promising programs or research during our Poster Session. One presenter is expected to be at the session (may list up to three additional authors for program book).

Videos: 10 to 30 minute documentaries or independent film projects that illustrate key issues in the delivery of appropriate and comprehensive behavioral health services for people in contact with the justice system. One presenter is expected to attend the session. A copy of the video must be mailed to the GAINS Center for review by September 15, 2009. Unless specifically requested, copies will not be returned.

Presenters are responsible for their own transportation, lodging, and must register at the regular conference rate. Presenters are responsible for handouts and shipping costs of any materials to and from the conference hotel.

Presenters are responsible for the cost of registration. The advance registration rate will be $99 for presenters and $149 for non-presenters. Registration will close on March 1, 2010. After that registration will only be available on-site at a rate of $199.

The proposal deadline has been extended to Friday, October 16, 2009. Presenters will be notified of acceptance no later than November 15, 2009.

  • Type of Presentation: Paper, panel, poster, or video
  • Presenting Author Name / Degree (only for paper session)
  • Lead Presenter Name / Degree (only for panels)
  • Additional Author(s) / Presenter(s) Name / Degree: List in the order they should appear in the program (up to 3 additional)
  • Title / Department / Affiliation
  • Full Address
  • Phone / Fax / E-mail
  • Presentation Summary (For review): Max. 250 words
  • Presentation Abstract (For program): Max.75 words
  • Learning objectives: Include 2 objectives no more than 25 words each. Objectives are statements in specific and measurable terms that describe what an attendee will know or be able to do as a result of taking part in your session.
